Pair of Original Vintage Chinese Silk Paintings, Flowering Branches with Bird and Butterfly, Signed and Sealed – Framed Botanical Art

250,00 €

A beautiful pair of Chinese paintings on silk, dating from the early 20th century. Each painting depicts delicate flowering branches accompanied by wildlife.

The first composition features a colourful bird perched among white flowers and green foliage. The second shows a butterfly hovering above blossoming branches. The soft colours and finely observed botanical details contrast beautifully with the warm natural tone of the silk.

Both paintings feature traditional Chinese calligraphic inscriptions and red seals. One is signed “Ruolan” and dated to a yiwei year. The other bears a gengchen date and is inscribed as having been painted in Suzhou.

As these traditional cyclical dates can correspond to more than one Western calendar year, we have not attributed a precise date to the paintings.
