Rare Pair of Art Nouveau Silver-Plated Vases by WMF (c.1900)
A striking and rare pair of silver-plated Art Nouveau vases by WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik), circa 1900. Each vase features classic Jugendstil design elements: embossed tulips, sinuous stems, and flowing leaves. Created by Albert Köhler, a renowned designer of the Jugendstil movement, this vase embodies the Art Nouveau style with its organic curves, raised floral motifs, and a base adorned with figurative scenes. One vase depicts a young girl listening to a shell, the other a boy holding a fish — charming allegorical figures rendered in fine detail.
While one vase shows some dents and slight deformation, and the silver plating is worn in areas, both retain a generous amount of their original finish — remarkable for pieces of this age. Pairs like this are increasingly hard to find, making them highly collectible. Dimensions: Height: 27 cm Width: 15 cm Material: Silver plate over cast metal.
