A skilful and colourful depiction by the artist of the start of a horse race – the painting shows several horses proving to be almost too much to handle as their jockey’s grapple with the reins to maintain control. The painting is signed bottom right. The painting is in good condition, showing only a few tiny losses to the painted surface. The frame has undergone some simple restoration and is complete, but remains in a distressed condition. Panel size: 28 x 35 cm, Framed size: 41 x 49 cm
